AMPS member G&M EURO TEX Ltd has opened a new fabrication and finishing facility at Unit 20 Claydon Business Park, Great Blakenham.
The facility was officially opened by long-serving Operations Director Rob Forbes, who cut the ribbon.
TEX GROUP CEO Greg Brown said: “We’re very proud to open this Best-in-Class Fabrication and Finishing facility enabling us to grow our business and develop job opportunities for skilled people in the manufacturing sector in Suffolk.”
Greg went on to say he was pleased that the TEX GROUP subsidiaries, notably G&M EUROTEX, BSP-TEX and TEX ATC, were now working more collaboratively with shared facilities and resources, moving away from the historically more separate operations.
The new facility will benefit G&M EUROTEX and BSP-TEX, two TEX GROUP businesses based at Claydon Business Park. Greg said: “the benefits of the new shared facility will include greater capacity and additional work opportunities, with more specialist work being undertaken in-house.”
The new purpose-built fabrication facility allows the business to work on bigger projects, with the addition of a 10-tonne overhead gantry crane. This enables it to manufacture larger generator enclosures up to 10m in length. The new automated welding technology allows it to deliver consistently high-quality welds, ensuring repeatability and improved production efficiency.
The facility also allows the business to meet recognised industry standards, including BS EN ISO 8501-1:2007 for shotblasting and BS EN ISO 12944 within the dedicated paint area, and achieve the levels of surface preparation and finishing quality demanded by its customers. Staff will also benefit from a bright, modern working environment.
Managing Director James Long and Greg thanked Rob Forbes for his efforts in the design, concept and initiation of the project, as well as Ian Maddison, Fabrication and Finishing Manager, for supporting Rob in the early planning phase before taking the lead on procurement, build and ongoing operations.
