The UK Government has published its Energy Sector Cyber Security Strategy 2026–2030, setting out a roadmap to strengthen cyber resilience across the nation’s energy infrastructure as the sector becomes increasingly digital and interconnected.
The strategy recognises that cyber security is now a core operational and business issue for the energy industry, alongside traditional physical infrastructure protection. The growing use of digital technologies in power generation, backup power systems, microgrids and other critical infrastructure has increased the need for robust cyber security measures across the sector.
Key priorities
The strategy identifies several priorities for government, regulators and industry over the next four years:
- Improving understanding of cyber threats and vulnerabilities across the energy sector.
