AMPS, your Association for the UK Power Sector, will hold its annual Industry Day on Thursday October 3rd in Peterborough. This year’s event is generously hosted by Perkins Engines Company Limited.
The Industry Day focuses on the Electrification and Decarbonisation of the UK’s Power Sector and its journey to achieving Net Zero.
Speakers are prominent experts in their fields, drawn from Government and Industry, who will update delegates on the technologies, developments and legislative trends affecting our Industry.
The AMPS Industry Day starts with networking over coffee, followed by Association updates from the AMPS Chair, Director General and Officers followed by a buffet lunch – the prefect opportunity to chat with speakers, the AMPS Team and fellow delegates.

Ed Hodson
Perkins Engines Company Limited
The Customer Solutions Team collaborates with customers to identify and tailor both product and services solutions in the Advanced Power space. Ed’s role is to support the existing sales network to develop new opportunities and help define the route to market strategy and rollout of the Advanced Power offering. Ed has extensive experience in supporting and managing distributor, dealer and end customer relationships and identifying both new business and product opportunities. Graduating from Harper Adams University in 2008 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering with Marketing & Management, former Chair Person of the Agricultural Engineers Association Technical Committee and alumni of the Oxford Farming Conference’s Inspire Programme; Ed has been a frequent public speaker at industry events.
Andrew Gordon
Cleaner Machinery
Andrew has worked on London’s NRMM Low Emission Zone since 2016. He sits within an award-winning team of 7 committed officers, who visit and audit construction sites for engine emission standards. His background in regulatory services and policy implementation has covered many fields of Air Quality, as well as Environmental Crime, Noise Pollution, Anti-social Behaviour and Travel Demand Management.
Luis Bassett
Cleaner Machinery
Luis has worked with NRMM since 2016, inspecting sites and machines against compliance with the Mayor of London NRMM Low Emission Zone.
Luis personally covers 3 London Boroughs, but the team of 7 cover all construction sites in London, and have now been asked to investigate potential emission savings in the Waste, Roadworks and Events industries. Luis has been especially involved in the rollout of battery, flywheel and Stage V generator technology. Luis also carries out Local Authority statutory duties in other niche areas including supervision of exhumations.
Ian Jackson
Society of Operations Engineers
Ian has over forty years’ experience in electricity production, including power station plant operations, energy trading and economic regulation. The latter, involving the regulation of competition in generation and supply, renewable energy, decentralised generation and security of supply.
More recently Ian has brought his experience to the Society of Operations Engineer’s work on reducing emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere resulting from operation of plant and equipment.
Tim Hunt
Environment Agency
Tim is a Senior Advisor in the Environment Agency’s Energy Industries Decarbonisation Team. His role includes delivery of the Environment Agency’s Methane Action Plan, in particular the prevention or reduction of methane emissions from the industry sectors regulated by the Agency and the encouragement of efficient gas utilisation.
Tim has worked for the Environment Agency and its predecessor organisations since 1990. Prior to joining his current team, Tim worked as a specialist within the Agency’s Geoscience Team, advising on waste gas management operations at Onshore Oil & Gas sites.
