Powerhire were contacted by a leading independent asbestos management consultancy in UK who had won the contract to provide Landlords Infrastructure Replacement for a residential tower block in South London. This included upgrading and providing new distribution and new metering, working closely with the local REC and incumbent electricity providers.
During the works the tower block was still occupied, meaning an uninterrupted power supply was imperative to support the buildings lifts, communal lighting and power, plus the district heating boiler that feeds 500 properties.
After discussions with the management consultancy and our technical sales manager the best fail safe solution was offered and implemented with 2 x 300kVA silenced generators in N+1 mode being delivered and installed, meaning that in the event of a fault, Generator 2 would instantly be called for to take up the load. During the hire period, Generator no. 1 ran faultlessly, so generator no. 2 was not called for.
The 300kVA generators were complimented with a 3000 Litre bulk fuel tank providing fuel 24/7 during the works; this included full fuel management by Powerhire to ensure a totally uninterrupted supply was provided around the clock.
Following the two-week hire, our generator engineer and logistics team returned to the sight to de-install and carry out the safe disconnection of the 2 generator sets and ancillary supplies, leaving behind a very happy customer and 500 residents.
